Tinubu: If He Was Homeschooled, As Festus Keyamo Famously Posited, Then They Should Say So–Odinkalu

Professor Chidi Odinkalu has questioned the educational records presented for President Bola Tinubu after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released the president’s credentials ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during an interview on Nigeria Info FM, Odinkalu argued that important questions about Tinubu’s background remain unanswered. He claimed that the released documents did not include primary or secondary school certificates and said this had raised fresh concerns about the president’s educational history.

Odinkalu also referred to previous public debates over Tinubu’s nationality and identity, alleging that there were unresolved issues surrounding his background. He further claimed that former President Muhammadu Buhari had also expressed concerns about Tinubu’s identity in the past.

Addressing comments previously made by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, that Tinubu may have been homeschooled, Odinkalu said that if this were true, it should be openly stated. He argued that homeschooling does not remove the need for formal certification, as students are still expected to obtain recognised qualifications.

Odinkalu also alleged that Tinubu had previously listed Government College, Ibadan, in official documents, but claimed that those records had been challenged. He questioned how someone could proceed to university without verifiable primary and secondary education records, while alleging that attempts were being made to align existing records with current eligibility requirements.
