According to Aljazeera News, the United States has unleashed a fresh wave of air strikes against Iranian targets following the deaths of two American service members in an Iranian missile attack on a U.S. base in Jordan, marking a dramatic escalation in the week-long military confrontation.
President Donald Trump authorized the new bombardment, targeting IRGC command centers and missile launch sites inside Iran, according to U.S. Central Command. The strikes come less than 24 hours after Tehran claimed responsibility for the Jordan attack, which also wounded several U.S. personnel at the remote logistics hub near the Syrian border.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump described the operation as direct retribution for American blood spilled. “We will not allow our brave soldiers to be killed without a response,” the President said. He called it “swift punishment” for Iran’s continued aggression, adding that these strikes will continue until Iran understands we mean business.
The Pentagon confirmed that the latest bombardment hit facilities linked to the production and launch of the drones used in the Jordan strike. Early reports from Iranian state media acknowledged explosions near military sites in Khuzestan province, though casualty figures remain unconfirmed.
Meanwhile, Iran has vowed to retaliate, with military officials threatening to target additional U.S. assets across the region. American bases in Iraq, Syria, and the Gulf remain on maximum alert.
