A report that was published by Daily Post on Saturday, December 27, 2025, stated that Ladan Salihu, who had previously served as the Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, had expressed his disapproval of the airstrikes that were carried out by the United States of America in Sokoto State on Christmas night.
It was said by him that the operation did not succeed in hitting its targeted target and did not accomplish any specific security purpose.
The airstrikes were carried out on December 25 in the village of Jabo, which is located close to the Tambuwal Local Government Area in the state of Sokoto.
According to the United States, the strikes were directed against members of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) who were thought to be operating in the region.
It was the United States Africa Command, sometimes known as AFRICOM, that was in charge of the operation.
Following the strike, AFRICOM made the announcement that it had been carried out in conjunction with the government of Nigeria.
In the report, it was stated that the mission demonstrated the power of the United States military and its dedication to preventing terrorist threats both domestically and internationally.
On the other hand, Salihu strongly disagreed with this report, stating that the strike was inaccurate and failed to hit its intended target.
During his explanation, he mentioned that he had a conversation with Bashar Isah Jabo, a member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly who had travelled to the region shortly after the attack.
The legislator stated that the rockets came to rest on an area that was accessible to the public.
The distance between the spot and a nearby hospital was around 300 meters.
It was confirmed by him that there were no injuries or fatalities, and that there was also no damage to any of the public buildings or private residences in the community.
According to Salihu, the community of Jabo has not come across any instances of terrorist activities in the year 2025.
It was exactly at 10:30 p.m. last night that I had a conversation with the Honourable Sarkin Yaki Jabo, a member of the Sokoto State Assembly, who had visited Jabo following the strike. A strike by the United States in Jabo, close to Tambuwal, was not a precision strike. There were no casualties. He stated that missiles had crashed in a plain field that was approximately 300 meters away from a local hospital.
