According to a report by Punch News on Sunday, May 17, 2026, Elizabeth Olagoke, a teacher at Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, which was invaded by terrorists, has recounted the incident, saying that the terrorists first entered her classroom, and they seized her and a two-year-old girl she was carrying.
Talking about the incident, she said the terrorists were all masked and dressed in camouflage. They were young men from the Esinele area and operated for about seven minutes. They entered her classroom first, seized her and the two-year-old girl she was carrying, and only let her go after she pleaded and one of them agreed.
In her words, she said, “They entered my classroom first and seized me and a two-year-old girl I was carrying.” I pleaded with them, and one of them said they should let me go.”
Mrs. Elizabeth Olagoke said she started running, and some of the terrorists chased after her. She had about 20 children in her kindergarten class, drawn from three communities: Yawota, Esinele, and Alausa. Of the abducted pupils, eight were from Yawota, 20 from Esinele, and five from Alausa.
