The Kidnappers Took The Student Phone And When He Got Home And Called, They Picked And We Spoke-Isah

Danladi Isah, a resident of Olowa community in Kogi State, has revealed that residents made contact with the abductors who attacked Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina, after a student’s stolen mobile phone was used to reach the kidnappers.

Speaking during an interview on News Central TV on Friday, 17 July, 2026, Isah said the unexpected phone conversation provided confirmation that the gunmen responsible for the attack were indeed kidnappers. He explained that the call was made after one of the students whose phone had been taken during the incident returned home and attempted to recover the device by calling the number with another person’s phone.

Recounting the development, Isah said, “The kidnappers took away the student phone yesterday and when the student got home, he used another person’s phone to call his own number. They picked and we spoke with them. And they said yes, we are actually kidnappers.”

According to him, the response from the people who answered the phone removed any doubt about the nature of the attack and confirmed that those behind the abduction were holding the victims. The revelation has further heightened anxiety among residents, who are hoping for the safe return of those still in captivity.

The attack on Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina, reportedly resulted in the abduction of the school principal, two students and a National Examinations Council (NECO) supervisor.
