Veteran Nollywood actor Francis Duru has revealed how he continued with his responsibilities after the death and burial of his son, saying he returned to church the following day and carried out his duties despite the pain of the loss.
Speaking during an interview on Signature TV, Duru said the death of his son was a deeply painful experience, but he chose not to withdraw from his responsibilities or stop engaging in his various commitments.
The actor explained that his career extends beyond acting, as he is also involved in theatre, consultancy work and teaching at his church’s Sunday school.
Recounting how he handled the difficult period, Duru said:
“I have never been quiet. The Saturday they buried my son, on Sunday I was in church doing what? Doing what I am supposed to do. Yes, trauma and all that stuff have been there, but I have never been quiet.”
He explained that while grief and emotional struggles were present, he continued to remain active in areas of his life where he had responsibilities.
Duru noted that many people know him mainly as an actor, but his work also includes other professional and personal commitments that require his attention.
“It is not only movies I do, I do theatre, I do consultancy in different areas then I go to school,” he added.
The veteran actor’s reflection highlights his determination to remain committed to his duties while coping with the emotional impact of losing his son.
