Hamas spokesman Ghazi Hamad challenged television host Piers Morgan to identify what he described as any positive contribution Israel has made to the Middle East during a tense interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored.
According to a video published on the programme’s official YouTube channel on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the exchange began after Morgan repeatedly asked Hamad whether he still believed Israel should be destroyed.
Rather than giving a direct yes-or-no response, Hamad shifted the discussion to Israel’s actions in the region, citing the conflicts in Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank, and Iran.
He argued that Israel’s presence has brought instability and conflict rather than benefits to neighbouring countries.
During the interview, Hamad challenged Morgan, saying, “Tell me what Israel is doing” that has benefited the Middle East.
Morgan responded by saying Hamad’s refusal to directly answer the question effectively spoke for itself, adding that viewers could draw their own conclusions about the Hamas spokesman’s position on Israel’s right to exist.
The exchange became one of the most heated moments of the interview before Morgan concluded the discussion and moved on to a panel segment.
The interview drew differing reactions from other guests on the programme.
Former U.S. counterterrorism official Joe Kent argued that Hamad’s response reflected Hamas’s long-standing position and suggested it demonstrated why achieving a lasting ceasefire remains difficult.
Political commentator Cenk Uygur, however, contended that Morgan’s questioning overlooked what he described as Israel’s disproportionate role in regional instability.
