Kenneth Okonkwo, the campaign spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, defended his public comments regarding Peter Obi, insisting his remarks came only after legal proceedings had already begun, while explaining why he documented his position in writing.
According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Channels Television on Friday, July 31, 2026, while responding to questions about his dispute with Peter Obi, Okonkwo explained the sequence of events surrounding the legal disagreement.
He maintained that his public statement did not trigger the legal action, arguing instead that the process had already commenced before he made the remarks, adding that written communication was necessary because of the nature of the dispute.
During the interview, he stated, “he had already commenced the suit before I said what I said. And when you’re dealing with Peter Obi, it’s good to put everything you are saying in writing. What I said is on my X handle, and this is what I said: I said it is unwise for you to sue your spokesperson.”
