You Are As Foolish As Your Peter Obi: Tinubu and Atiku Are Criticised by Obidents, None of Them Sued People, Obi Has Sued Deji And I–Okonkwo

Former spokesperson for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Kenneth Okonkwo, has defended his recent comments about Peter Obi following reports of a ₦5 billion defamation lawsuit threat against him.

In a post on X, Okonkwo responded to an individual he described as a supporter of Obi, accusing the former Anambra State governor of being intolerant of criticism. According to him, public figures in a democracy should be able to accept opposing views without resorting to legal action.

Okonkwo argued that both Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar have faced criticism from Obi’s supporters over the years, yet neither of them took legal action against their critics.

He also alleged that Obi had previously sued activist Deji Adeyanju and was now taking similar steps against him. Okonkwo maintained that criticism is a normal part of democratic politics and that political leaders should be able to tolerate differing opinions.

The former Labour Party chieftain further claimed that if a politician cannot handle criticism as a private citizen, it raises concerns about how such a person might react if entrusted with greater political power.

His remarks come amid an escalating dispute between him and Obi, following corruption allegations made by Okonkwo against the former presidential candidate, claims Obi has strongly denied through his legal representatives.

In his words, “Tinubu is criticised, Atiku is criticised by Obidients. None of them sued people because they recognise that we are in a democracy and people are free to express themselves. Obi has sued Deji Adeyanju, and I heard he has written his wretched letter to Kenneth Okonkwo.”
