Reality TV star and entrepreneur Mercy Eke has revealed new details about her decision to undergo a Brazilian Butt Lift, BBL, in 2018, saying peer pressure and trending beauty standards influenced her at the time.
In a quote shared Big Brother Naija winner said: “Peer pressure made me get a BBL in 2018 because it was trending. I was really scared; I didn’t tell my mum because I knew she would discourage me. You can’t sleep on your bum for 14 days, and you’ll cry for the first three days from the pain.”
Mercy, who rose to national fame after winning BBNaija Season 4, explained that she kept the procedure from her mother out of fear of discouragement. She described the post-surgery recovery as difficult, noting strict aftercare restrictions and intense pain in the first days.
BBLs became a major talking point in Nigeria’s entertainment and fashion space around 2018-2019, with many female celebrities facing public scrutiny over body-enhancement procedures. The surgery involves transferring fat to enhance the shape and size of the buttocks and typically requires weeks of limited sitting or sleeping on the back.
