Emmanuel George, a Nigerian who attempted to migrate to Europe through the Sahara Desert, has narrated another disturbing experience from his journey, revealing that he and other migrants unknowingly fetched and shared water from a well that contained a dead body.
George made the disclosure during an interview on Nigeria Info FM, on Sunday, 19 July, 2026, while recounting the life-threatening conditions migrants faced as they travelled through the desert in search of a better future in Europe. He said the group was often left without access to clean drinking water, forcing them to rely on any available source to survive.
Describing one of the most horrifying moments of the journey, George said, “We were drawing water from well for everybody to take. When we finished, in the morning, we discovered dead body inside that well.” He explained that the migrants had spent the previous day fetching water from the well and distributing it among themselves, unaware that a corpse was inside.
