Lere Olayinka Shares Emir Sanusi’s Video On Northern Poverty, Says ‘Real Conversation’ Must Begin

Media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lere Olayinka, has shared a video of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, speaking on the socio-economic challenges facing Northern Nigeria, saying the region must begin to pay greater attention to such warnings.

Olayinka posted the video on his X handle, where he endorsed the Emir’s call for deeper reflection on the rising poverty rate and other developmental challenges confronting the North.

In the video, Emir Sanusi painted a bleak picture of conditions in the region, highlighting widespread poverty, the growing number of out-of-school children and the long-term implications for security and national development.

Sanusi also spoke on the implementation of Sharia law, stressing that governance and public policies should ultimately improve the welfare and well-being of citizens rather than exist only in principle.

“When we are ready for the real conversation, especially in the North, we will listen more to people like this and act on their warnings,” he wrote.

His comments have sparked fresh discussions on social media about poverty, education, governance and the need for sustainable development in Northern Nigeria.
