Mr President’s Choice To Retain Shettima Sends A Clear Message To Nigerians,To The World–Namdas

According to a report by Punch on Sunday, July 12, 2026, the Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA), Abdulrazak Namdas, has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima following his renomination as the All Progressives Congress (APC) vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

Namdas described President Bola Tinubu’s decision to retain Shettima as his running mate as a clear demonstration of confidence in the Vice President’s competence, loyalty and contributions to the administration since it assumed office.

He said the decision reflects the President’s commitment to continuity in governance as the ruling party prepares for the next general election.

Namdas, a former member of the House of Representatives and spokesman of the 8th Assembly, stated that the decision to maintain the Tinubu-Shettima ticket highlights the administration’s emphasis on stability, cooperation and effective teamwork.

According to him, retaining the Vice President sends a strong message about the importance of building on existing policies and maintaining a united leadership structure.

He noted that the move reflects the confidence reposed in Shettima’s ability to continue supporting the President in delivering the administration’s objectives.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, the BCDA Director-General also commended President Tinubu for what he described as the foresight shown in retaining a deputy who has remained actively involved in the affairs of government since the administration was inaugurated in May 2023.

Namdas said Shettima has consistently participated in the implementation of government policies and initiatives, contributing to the administration’s efforts in addressing national issues across different sectors.

He maintained that the President’s decision was based on the Vice President’s record of service over the past three years.

The former lawmaker further stated that the Tinubu-Shettima administration has provided purposeful leadership through the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to Namdas, the Vice President’s active involvement in government activities has strengthened the administration’s capacity to pursue its policies and programmes since assuming office.

Namdas also expressed the view that the decision to retain Shettima sends a positive message about the administration’s preference for consistency, experience and institutional continuity.

He stated that maintaining the same leadership team demonstrates confidence in those already entrusted with the responsibility of governing the country.

He added that the decision reflects an approach that prioritizes stability and sustained collaboration as the administration seeks another term in office under the platform of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general election.
