Kanu: The DSS Has To Be Under An Obligation Now To Allow Him To Meet His Witnesses -Sam Amadi

Legal expert Sam Amadi has said that the Department of State Services (DSS) must now take extra care to allow Nnamdi Kanu to properly defend himself in court. Kanu, who is facing charges brought by the federal government, recently dismissed his legal team and decided to act as his own lawyer.

Amadi explained during an interview on Arise Television that this move changes how the court and the DSS must treat Kanu. When he had lawyers, they were the ones handling the paperwork, going to court, and preparing his defense. But now, Kanu will have to do all of that on his own, which means he needs more access to people, documents, and time to prepare.

The judge now has an important duty to make sure Kanu is given all the tools and freedom he needs to prepare his defense fairly. This includes giving him enough time and not keeping him in harsh or restrictive conditions that would make it impossible to work on his case.

Amadi pointed out that the prosecution suggesting six days to prepare is not realistic. Even professional lawyers would struggle to get ready for a serious trial in just six months, let alone six days.

Most importantly, the DSS must allow Kanu to meet with and interview his witnesses. Without this access, Amadi noted that it would be nearly impossible for him to have a fair trial.

In his words, “The DSS has to be under an Obligation now to allow him to meet with his witnesses, interview those witnesses because that’s what it means to defend yourself.”
