The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has shared an unexpected moment from the commission’s investigation involving Pastor Jerry Eze, revealing that he initially failed to recognize the popular cleric when he arrived at his office.
In a viral video shared on Channels Television, Olukoyede said, “When Pastor Jerry entered my office, I didn’t recognize him because he was wearing T-shirt and big trousers.”
According to the EFCC boss, the encounter happened after the commission had spent six months investigating financial activities linked to the founder of Streams of Joy International.
He explained that the investigation began after suspicious inflows of foreign currencies, including dollars and pounds, were reportedly noticed in an account associated with the ministry.
Olukoyede said that after the review process, Pastor Jerry Eze was invited for a meeting at the commission’s office. However, when the pastor arrived, the EFCC chairman said he was surprised by his casual appearance.
He described seeing a man dressed in a T-shirt, oversized trousers, and accessories that did not fit the image he had formed in his mind of a high-profile pastor.
According to him, he initially thought the visitor was an assistant or messenger and was prepared to ask him to bring the actual pastor.
It was only after taking a closer look that he realized the man standing before him was indeed Jerry Eze. Olukoyede said the moment challenged many assumptions he had formed before the meeting.
During their conversation, the cleric reportedly explained the source of the funds entering the account and how they were being used for ministry activities and charitable support.
The EFCC chairman said the meeting ended on a positive note, as the investigation did not lead to any punitive action. Instead, he said he commended the pastor for transparency and integrity….See More
