Senator representing Borno South, Senator Ali Ndume, has revealed that the Nigerian military is currently training a new set of elite special forces specifically designed to take the fight directly to insurgents in the Northeast rather than waiting to be attacked.
Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, Ndume said, “I heard now that the military are training some special forces. I have worked with the special forces in Maiduguri in the theatre operations. They don’t wait for Boko Haram to come and attack them. They go after Boko Haram. I saw them in Zaria as well. They spend the day resting, and once it’s 6 pm, they are ready to go out. In most of these operational areas where the terrorists know that special forces commanders are in charge or where there are a significant number of special forces, Boko Haram doesn’t even go there.”
