Channels Television Correspondent, Charles Opurum, has revealed last-minute changes to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s scheduled visit to the Rivers State House of Assembly, as impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara intensify.
Speaking during an interview with Channels TV, the correspondent disclosed that the original plan for the FCT Minister’s thank-you visit underwent significant modifications in the early hours of the morning. “Originally, the plan was that the FCT Minister was going to visit the Rivers State House of Assembly, the speaker’s residence this morning, as part of his thank-you visit. There was originally scheduled a meeting between the speaker, the city minister, and members of the elders’ council. So we knew about that. We were ready for that,” he stated.
The correspondent revealed that the change came unexpectedly before dawn, disrupting the carefully arranged schedule. “But very early this morning, roughly around 6:00 a.m., I got a call from the HOD in charge of communication saying, ‘Oh, there’s a slight change of plans. It is no longer going to happen at the speaker’s residence,'” he explained.
According to the correspondent, the venue was abruptly shifted to the assembly quarters where legislative proceedings have been taking place. “It’s now going to happen here at the assembly quarters where they’ve been sitting,” he added.
