Senior Political Assistant to H.E. Atiku Abubakar and Convener of The Legacy Discussion Circle, Demola Olarewaju, has spoken about Nigeria’s poor leadership and the country’s electricity troubles.
In a post on his verified X account on April 10, 2026, Olarewaju said Nigeria is so badly run that if people sit down and think about it for just five minutes, they will feel like becoming activists or joining politics.
He explained that even countries at war still manage to give their people steady electricity, but Nigeria suffers blackouts across the nation whenever the power grid fails. He said this shows how underdeveloped the country is, despite having many resources.
Olarewaju added that the collapse of the national grid is not just a technical fault but a sign of poor planning and weak leadership. He believes the frustration Nigerians feel every time the lights go off is enough to push ordinary people to demand change.
