He Got ₦30bn From Tinubu, Kept Quiet, Never Asked UN To Probe— Olayinka Fires Back At Makinde

Media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lere Olayinka, has intensified his criticism of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, accusing him of inconsistency following his call for the United Nations to investigate the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.

Olayinka made the remarks in a post shared on his X handle, hours after Makinde’s statewide broadcast in which the governor appealed to the United Nations and international human rights organisations to conduct an independent investigation into the abduction, which lasted about 56 days before the victims were rescued.

The governor had said the request for an international probe was aimed at ensuring justice for the victims and uncovering the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Reacting, Olayinka referenced the Federal Government’s intervention following the Bodija explosion in Ibadan, alleging that Makinde received ₦30 billion from President Bola Tinubu for victims of the disaster but failed to account for the funds.

“He got ₦30bn from President Tinubu for victims of the Bodija, Ibadan explosion. He closed mouth. He didn’t tell anyone. He didn’t give one kobo to the victims,” Olayinka wrote.

He further questioned why the governor did not call for an international investigation into the Bodija explosion but was now seeking the intervention of the United Nations over the Oriire school abduction.

“Then, no call for the United Nations to come and investigate,” he stated.

The FCT minister’s aide concluded his remarks with a personal criticism of the governor.

“Walahi, this our brother, the Ibadan Gomina General is confused by confusion. He needs help urgently!” Olayinka added.

Makinde has maintained that his call for an international investigation is intended to promote transparency and justice for the victims rather than undermine Nigeria’s security institutions.
