Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, has criticized former Governor Nasir El-Rufai following his claim of bugging the phone of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and his allegations regarding the importation of odorless poisonous gas.
In a tweet on his X handle on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Fani-Kayode urged the former Kaduna State Governor to behave with self-respect and cease acting like an unrepentant and unrelenting ingrate.
He asserted that neither the NSA nor the current Governor of Kaduna State has the time to entertain El-Rufai’s persistent grievances.
Fani-Kayode said, “Kindly behave & respect yourself & stop acting like an unrepentant & unrelenting ingrate & pest. The NSA does not have your time & neither does the Governor of your state. There is one thing I ought to add which is relevant & which explains the contrasting disposition & styles of Ribadu & El Rufai. It may also go a long way to explain the deep-seated hate & envy that the latter has always secretly harboured for the former.”
The former minister suggested that the hostility directed at Nuhu Ribadu stems from a deep-seated envy rooted in contrasting backgrounds.
Fani-Kayode pointed out that Ribadu hails from a distinguished lineage of educated public servants, noting that his father, Alhaji Ahmadu Ribadu, was a First Republic parliamentarian and Minister of State for Economic Development.
According to Fani-Kayode, this background granted Ribadu a sophisticated understanding of the nuances and limits of power, which he contrasted with El-Rufai’s recent erratic behavior.
This public fallout follows a series of staggering claims made by El-Rufai, who alleged that someone he knows had successfully bugged the NSA’s communication lines to monitor a purported plot for his arrest.
Also, the former governor sparked national security concerns by alleging that an odorless poison had been brought into the country under the guise of security equipment…..See More
