Corp Member Who Was Kidnapped In Ondo State Reveals The Language That The Bandits Were Speaking

Patience Andrew, one of the corp members who was abducted by bandits in Ondo State, has recounted her experiences in the hands of the gunmen, and has also revealed the language that they (the bandits) were speaking.

According to the report by Punch on Tuesday, Patience Andrew was one of the five corp members that were kidnapped by bandits last week at Omi Alafa village in Ifon, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

It was gathered that the corp members were going home after the three weeks National Youth Service Corps Orientation camp in Enugu and Abia states.

Patience Andrew said that they had boarded a vehicle from Abia state to Onitsha but the driver was not fast enough, so one of the drivers at the park took them to where they would board a vehicle to Akure. She said that they got to Ondo State around 10 pm, and that was where the attack happened.

She said that the driver and some passengers were killed, while the rest of them were marched into the bush by the bandits.

She said that the bandits were five in number and were about 25 years old. She added that the bandits were speaking Hausa/Fulani, and that they had an interpreter.

She said, “They brought us out of the vehicle and took us inside the bush, we trekked from past 10 pm till around 7 pm the following day in the bush. The kidnappers were five in number and their age range should be around 25 years. They were speaking the Hausa/Fulani language and they had one interpreter.

“They tortured us and we were only given garri and water once a day.”

Andrew disclosed that the bandits initially demanded N30 million as ransom, but after negotiations, they brought it down to N1 million.
