Benue: I’m not going to be an Idoma governor, Tiv governor, Igede governor or Etulo governor- Adejoh

According to a report by the Punch on Thursday, May 8, 2026, governorship aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, Peter Adejoh, has officially stepped into the 2027 governorship race in Benue State after obtaining his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Adejoh arrived at the venue with supporters and party loyalists, marking a formal declaration of his ambition to unseat Governor Hyacinth Alia in what is expected to be a highly competitive political contest. His entry adds to the growing list of aspirants positioning themselves ahead of party primaries and broader political negotiations in the state.

Addressing journalists shortly after collecting the forms, Adejoh said his decision to run was driven by what he described as the urgent need to reposition Benue State and correct what he called years of uneven development, rising insecurity, and economic underperformance. He argued that the state has enormous potential in agriculture and natural resources but has not been properly harnessed for the benefit of the people.

He stressed that if given the mandate, his administration would focus on inclusive governance, ensuring that no group or region is left behind in the distribution of development projects. According to him, leadership should not be tied to ethnic sentiment but to fairness and collective progress across all communities in the state.

Reinforcing his position on unity, he stated, “I’m not going to be an Idoma governor, Tiv governor, Igede governor or Etulo governor.”

Adejoh further explained that his vision is to build a Benue State where governance decisions are guided strictly by equity and development needs rather than ethnic considerations. He pledged to ensure that all three senatorial districts benefit equally from infrastructure development, job creation, and social investment programs….See More
