Alex Otti: Somebody Looted Abia For 24 Years, Somebody Came And In Less Than 3 Years, Fixed It-Maxwell Opara

Human rights activist and lawyer, Maxwell Opara, has weighed in on the political and governance history of Abia State, drawing attention to successive administrations and their performance over the years.

He made the remarks during an interview on SYMFONI TV, where he discussed leadership accountability, public service delivery, and recent developments in the state.

The programme featured discussions on governance trends in Nigeria, with particular focus on how different state administrations have managed public resources and infrastructure development. Opara used the platform to compare past and present leadership in Abia State, arguing that citizens are beginning to notice significant changes in governance outcomes.

In his comments, Opara referenced former governors Orji Uzor Kalu (1999–2007), Theodore Orji (2007–2015), and Okezie Ikpeazu (2015–2023), stating that the state had experienced prolonged periods of underperformance before the current administration. He contrasted their tenures with that of incumbent Governor Alex Otti, who assumed office in 2023.

During the interview, Opara stated: “Somebody looted Abia for 24 years, this one 8 years, that one 8 years and that one 8 years, somebody came and in less than 3 years and fixed it.”

He suggested that governance challenges in Abia State had accumulated over decades, affecting infrastructure, public services, and economic development.
