The former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore has reacted after he met Chioma Okoli at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday.

Chioma Okoli, a Nigerian social media influencer, was remanded in prison for criticizing Erisco Foods Limited’s Nagiko Tomato Mix on Facebook, sparking a heated debate on free speech.
She was arrested in September 2023 and charged with conspiracy and cyberstalking under Nigeria’s Cyber Crime Prohibition Act.
Chioma Okoli claimed the product had excessive sugar, which allegedly damaged Erisco Foods’ reputation.
The former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore stated on his verified Facebook page on Thursday; “Yesterday at the Federal High Court in Abuja, I met Chioma Okoli the tomato paste reviewer who has been hounded, arrested, and is now being prosecuted by the Nigeria Police Force since 2024 on behalf of a wealthy manufacturer.”

The Human Rights Activist and political gladiator stated further; “She was there with her able and indefatigable lawyer, the human rights attorney Inibehe Effiong.”
He noted; “I was struck by Chioma’s strength and grace under pressure. In the face of intimidation and a weaponized police force, she carried herself with quiet courage and dignity.”
