Samuel Yohanna, former Organizing Secretary of the APC, has alleged that the APC governors who facilitated Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s defection to the party will block his impeachment to protect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 electoral strategy.
Speaking in an interview with News Central TV, Yohanna argued that the impeachment attempt contradicts broader APC interests. “From the political angle, the move that the lawmakers are making to impeach the governor might not see the light of the day. The other APC governors who had sleepless nights to make sure that Governor Sim Fubara defected to APC will not allow his impeachment process to go on,” he said.
The former party official warned that the Rivers state lawmakers may ultimately become collateral damage in larger political calculations.
Yohanna alleged that the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has probably discovered that some of his political allies now support Fubara, a development that has displeased him.
The former organizing secretary attributed this shift to the fundamental nature of political relationships. “We know in politics there is no permanent friend, no permanent enemy, only one permanent interest and that is what is playing out now,” Yohanna stated.
