Wike:The Former First Lady, Who Brought Him And Made Him Gov, Did He Keep To The Agreement? — Ihunwo

In a recent interview on Arise TV, Chijioke Ihunwo, former chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State, discussed the ongoing political crisis involving Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy. Tensions in the state have escalated as members of the Rivers State House of Assembly pursue impeachment proceedings, while external actors are reportedly influencing their actions. Ihunwo stressed that the governor was elected by the people of Rivers State and must be allowed to govern independently.

“The former First Lady, who brought him and made him governor, did he keep to the agreement?,” he said, referring to Patience Jonathan, who played a key role in supporting Wike’s rise to the governorship. Ihunwo questioned whether Minister Wike has honored the political agreements made with his former benefactors, emphasizing that such arrangements should not override the mandate given to Governor Fubara by Rivers people. He argued that external interference in governance undermines democracy and destabilizes the state.

Highlighting the consequences of the crisis, Ihunwo noted that political uncertainty is discouraging investment and slowing development projects, which affects ordinary citizens. He urged members of the House of Assembly to act independently and prioritize their constitutional duties rather than follow the directives of former leaders.

He also appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress to intervene and restore peace in the state. Ihunwo stressed that Governor Fubara has demonstrated integrity, commitment to development, and a desire to maintain stability, and he should be allowed to complete his tenure without obstruction.

Concluding, Ihunwo called on all political actors in Rivers State to prioritize the welfare of the people, avoid personal or external agendas, and ensure that peace and good governance prevail in the state.
