We Know That There Is Hunger In The Land, But This Hunger Is Not Caused By Asiwaju – Ayirimi Emami
Chief Ayirimi Emami, a prominent businessman and chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Delta, has called for patience ahead of the planned nationwide protests by youths on August 1.
According to the report by The Nation on Thursday, Emami assured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu is working tirelessly to address the current hardships facing the country.
Emami said that President Tinubu is not responsible for the existing hardship and hunger, but rather inherited a flawed system.
He acknowledged the suffering of Nigerians, particularly those in the riverine communities of the Niger Delta, who are most affected by the high prices of petrol.
The APC chieftain urged protesters to exercise caution and avoid destroying national assets and private properties.
He stressed that protest is a democratic right, but it must be done peacefully.
He said, “This hardship is not caused by Asiwaju, this is a wrong foundation he met. The President is struggling with it to ensure Nigeria moves forward. We know there is hunger in the land, but this hunger is not caused by Asiwaju. These are not things you can fix overnight.”
Speaking further, “I want people to exercise patience. Protest is part of democracy, but the way you go about it matters. I enjoy protesting or agitating because sometimes when you don’t agitate the leaders don’t know what you are going through.”
Emami’s remarks came after performing his routine “Ologbotsere duty” of offering prayers to the ancestors of the Itsekiri people.
The event, attended by notable personalities, aimed to promote peace and progress in the Itsekiri nation….See_More
