Ndume: That’s A Blanket Statement. I Need Explanation To My Children And My Loved Ones- Cyril Fasuyi
Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has narrowly escaped a potential suspension from the Senate.
According to the report by The Cable, the motion to suspend Ndume was raised by Senator Cyril Fasuyi, representing Ekiti North, who alleged that Ndume’s recent comments in an interview breached his privilege as a senator.
It should be recalled that during an interview with Arise Television a few days ago, Ndume had made a controversial statement, accusing the administration of President Bola Tinubu of being populated by kleptocrats.
Fasuyi argued that the blanket statement impugned the integrity of all senators and government officials, including himself.
He requested that the Senate refer the matter to the Committee on Ethics and Public Petitions to investigate and recommend appropriate action.
If found guilty, the committee could have recommended Ndume’s suspension from the Senate.
Fasuyi stressed the gravity of the situation, saying that he needed to explain the allegations to his children and loved ones, and that the statement was damaging to the image of the Senate and its members.
He said, “It happened over the weekend, on the allegation, the blanket allegation, by Senator Ali Ndume that every one of us are thieves.
“That is a very blanket statement. I need a lot of explanation to my children and my loved ones. They want an explanation on the inference of what Senator Ali Ndume said about all of us in government.”
