The Second Person Couldn’t Make It, He Didn’t Fall On The Foam We Kept, He Fell On The Ground–Okoye

A fire outbreak in Lagos left many people in danger, but quick action from residents helped save lives. One of those who witnessed the incident, Ebuka Okoye, shared how he was able to rescue several people from the burning building.

In a video shared by TVC News, when he arrived at the scene, the fire had just started and there were only a few people around. He and others used a ladder from the ground floor to climb up to the balcony, where they began rescuing those trapped inside.

The first person who attempted to jump from the top floor managed to escape safely. However, the second person was not so lucky. While trying to jump, he missed the foam that had been placed on the ground to break his fall. Instead, he hit his leg on something and landed on the hard floor. Witnesses rushed him to the hospital, but his condition remains uncertain.

Okoye then broke into the building to continue the rescue from the inside. He managed to bring out about four people on his own, despite the heavy smoke and danger. He explained that his goal was to save lives, not property.

To make this clear, he shared how he found a girl’s iPhone on the ground after helping her escape. Rather than keep it, he handed it over to the security man and identified its rightful owner.

In his words, “The second person couldn’t make it, he hit his leg somewhere. He didn’t fall on the foam we kept, but fell on the ground. They said they rushed him to the hospital, but I don’t know his situation now.
