Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), architect, activist and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for Lagos State, has said the death of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant Funsho Williams continues to have a lasting impact on the opposition party in Lagos.
Speaking during an interview on Afropolitan on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, Rhodes-Vivour reflected on the political consequences of Williams’ killing, arguing that the PDP has never fully regained the momentum it enjoyed before the incident. He described Williams as a widely admired politician whose popularity transcended political affiliations.
“I will say to you that till today the PDP in Lagos State has not fully recovered from that because this is someone that was loved by so many people,” Rhodes-Vivour said.
According to him, Williams’ broad acceptance among Lagos residents made him a formidable political figure whose absence created a vacuum within the PDP. He suggested that the loss significantly affected the party’s fortunes and altered the political landscape in the state.
