Benue State Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, has said the ongoing joint security operation in Logo Local Government Area is forcing suspected terrorists to retreat from their positions as security forces intensify efforts to clear the area of armed groups.
Speaking during an interview on AIT News on Wednesday, 22 July, 2026, while leading a joint operation in the terrorist frontline in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, Nwadiogbu said security personnel observed the suspected attackers withdrawing as the combined team advanced. He noted that the movement of the armed men suggested that the sustained presence of security forces was disrupting their activities.
Describing what security operatives witnessed during the operation, the commissioner said, “As we were coming, we saw them shifting away and running. When they fire a shot, they will continue to run.”
According to Nwadiogbu, the response of the suspected terrorists indicates that the joint operation is putting pressure on them and limiting their ability to remain in the affected communities. He said security personnel have continued to advance cautiously while maintaining vigilance to prevent the armed groups from regrouping or launching fresh attacks.
