According to a video posted on Al Arabiya on Wednesday 15, 2026, Danny Citrinowicz, a former Israeli defense intelligence representative to the United States, said engaging President Trump in negotiations has become difficult because his stated positions shift from one day to the next.

Citrinowicz raised the point while explaining why Iranian officials view current diplomacy with Washington as largely ineffective.

He said Iran’s leadership remains open to dialogue in principle, but has grown wary of committing to any deal that could be reversed shortly after being reached, undermining confidence on both sides.

In his words, Danny Citrinowicz said, “the Iranians are think assuming that it’s almost futile to negotiate with Trump because one day they this one and the other day say that one.

“So, it’s very hard to reach an agreement with someone that can cancel the agreement the day after.”

He noted that this unpredictability comes at a time when the interim understanding between the US and Iran has largely broken down, worsened by Washington’s decision to reimpose a naval blockade and continue military action in the Strait of Hormuz.

Citrinowicz said Iran continues to respond by targeting tankers that avoid its preferred shipping route, while US retaliation has focused mainly on military installations rather than infrastructure or senior officials.

He added that both sides appear to still want a political solution in theory, but the lack of consistency in the American position makes it harder to reach anything durable.
