There have been several reactions from the general public and particularly social media users after the former governor of Anambra State and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi made a striking comment regarding the reported abduction of a school principal and students in Kogi State.

According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that the recent abduction was both excruciating, heartbreaking and deeply troubling.

His comments came after reports on how a school principal whose identities were withheld and his students and a NECO official were abducted from an examination hall went viral across various social media platforms.

It can be recalled that pupils and teachers of Oriire school in Oyo State were recently rescued from their captors. The recent incident as expected, triggered fresh rounds of concerns.

The former Anambra State governor in his remarks, pointed out that due to fear of being abducted by criminal elements, children can no longer go to school, study or sit for an examination.

However, he warned that schools must not be allowed to become theaters of fear. Schools, according to the former governor, should symbolize hope and the promise of a better future, not terror and uncertainty.
