I Pleaded With Amaechi Because He Started Getting Angry Since Last Week About the Election—Momodu

During an interview on News Central TV on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), spoke about the party’s internal election process and the role played by former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, during the exercise.

Momodu stated that Amaechi had expressed concerns about the election process and was opposed to adopting a consensus arrangement for selecting the party’s candidate. He argued that the insistence on a transparent process contributed to the extensive voting exercise carried out by the party.

Momodu further stated that the exercise conducted by the ADC across thousands of voting points was unprecedented among political parties in the country, adding that the process demonstrated the party’s commitment to internal democracy and transparency.

According to him, “I will plead with him (Amaechi) again like I pleaded last week because he started getting angry since last week about the election. He will not allow a consensus, and I’m sure it was majorly because of someone like him and maybe to a large extent Hayatudeen that we had to go through this rigorous process.
