A shocking incident unfolded in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on April 27, 2026, when a tribal man, Jeetu Munda, carried the exhumed skeleton of his deceased sister, Kalra Munda, to the Maliposi branch of Odisha Grameen Bank.

According to reports, he claimed bank staff insisted on the physical presence of the account holder to withdraw approximately ₹20,000, despite informing them that she had died in January.

Local news outlets confirmed that Jeetu Munda, described as illiterate, had visited the bank multiple times seeking access to his late sister’s funds.

Frustrated by what he believed to be bureaucratic obstacles, he reportedly exhumed her remains and brought the skeleton to the bank premises in protest.

The incident quickly drew public attention after a video was shared online by the X account @WokePandemic.

Police intervened at the scene, took custody of the remains, and ensured they were reburied respectfully. District officials later stepped in and directed the bank to process the claim promptly, noting that Jeetu Munda is the sole surviving heir to his sister’s account.

Authorities also assured that the necessary documentation would be facilitated to resolve the matter.

In its official response, Odisha Grameen Bank denied demanding the physical presence of the deceased account holder. The bank stated that staff had informed Munda of the need to submit a valid death certificate and other required documents to settle the account.

The statement further claimed that he was inebriated and disruptive during one of his visits, but emphasized that officials were coordinating with local authorities to help him obtain the necessary paperwork for a legitimate claim settlement…See More
