He now asked me, what should he do?And I said if you leave Atiku,I will support you-Tinubu Supporter

According to report by Vanguard on Sunday, April 26, 2027, James Kitiya, a known supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has explained the condition under which he would be willing to support former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi again.

According to a report shared by Vanguard Newspaper on its official X handle on Sunday, April 26, 2026, Kitiya made the comment shortly after he was seen at a public event in Lagos wearing a Tinubu-branded cap and taking selfies with Peter Obi. The encounter quickly attracted public attention because of his known political alignment.

Kitiya stated that he had previously supported Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election but later withdrew his support. He explained that his decision was influenced by what he described as concerns over the conduct and influence of some of Obi’s supporters in Lagos State, whom he claimed had been compromised.

Despite his withdrawal of support, Kitiya revealed that he still had a direct conversation with Obi during the event. According to him, Obi asked what he would need to see before he could consider supporting him again.

Responding to that question, Kitiya made his position clear, stating that Obi would need to distance himself from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar before he could regain his political backing.

He said, “He now asked me, what should he do? And I said if you leave Atiku, I will support you. That’s what I told him.”

The statement has since generated widespread reactions on social media, with political supporters and commentators debating its implications for opposition politics in Nigeria.
