When I Said I Was Going To Remove Subsidy &Float Naira,I Said We Would Do It In An Organized Way-Obi

Peter Obi, former presidential candidate, said the removal of fuel subsidy and the decision to float the naira should have been carried out in an orderly, transparent way, and he urged the government to explain how the reported savings have been used.

He made the remarks during an interview on LYONMACKTV when asked about the subsidy removal and currency policy.

In the interview, Obi said his approach would have been phased and well-planned. He contrasted that with the current administration’s handling, noting that officials have announced that billions and trillions were saved after subsidy removal but have not provided clear accounts of how those funds were allocated or invested in priority sectors.

Obi pressed for transparency and accountability, asking for a full accounting of the sums the government claims to have saved. He questioned whether the reported savings have been directed to the critical areas the administration promised.
