Omoyele Sowore, in a video posted on his official YouTube account, questioned the circumstances surrounding the death of Nasir El-Rufai’s mother.
Sowore highlighted what he described as a gap between political promises and reality on the ground, particularly in the health sector of Kaduna State.
He questioned the infrastructure and healthcare system in Kaduna, suggesting that citizens, including prominent families, are compelled to seek medical treatment abroad due to insufficient local facilities.
The activist emphasized that such situations reflect broader issues of governance and leadership quality, pointing to the failure of state institutions to provide basic services even for those in positions of power.
Sowore framed the discussion as not only about El-Rufai’s personal circumstances but also as a reflection of the systemic challenges in the region.
According to Sowore, “Yesterday I heard that El-Rufai’s mom died in Egypt, and I sent my condolences to him. But why did El-Rufai’s mother have to die in Egypt when El-Rufai spent 8 years in Kaduna and claimed that he transformed Kaduna? Why can’t his mom die in Kaduna? It is because there’s no hospital in Kaduna that can treat even old people.
