According to a report by The Times Of Israel on March 26, 2026, the head of Uganda’s military suggests that his country will join the Iran war if Israel is at risk of defeat.
“We want the war in the Middle East to end now. The world is tired of it. But any talk of destroying or defeating Israel will bring us into the war. On the side of Israel!” Muhoozi Kainerugaba tweets.
Last month, Kainerugaba announced that Uganda would erect a statue of Yoni Netanyahu, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s brother, who was killed leading an elite IDF force in the 1976 rescue of hostages from Entebbe.
The remarks have drawn renewed attention to Uganda’s historical ties with Israel and its evolving diplomatic positioning in regional conflicts.
The reference to Yoni Netanyahu also recalls the 1976 Entebbe raid, a landmark Israeli special forces operation that strengthened bilateral relations between Uganda and Israel in later years.
Kainerugaba’s statement further highlights his outspoken stance on Middle Eastern affairs, which has previously sparked both domestic and international debate regarding Uganda’s neutrality and foreign policy direction.
International observers note that such comments, while not official government declarations, can influence perceptions of Uganda’s foreign relations and its potential alignment choices in any wider conflict involving Israel and Iran.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, where regional and global powers continue to express divergent positions on the ongoing conflict, raising concerns about possible escalation and broader international involvement if the war expands beyond its current scope analysts warning that rhetoric from military leaders may complicate diplomatic efforts and regional stability in already fragile security environments across affected regions globally and beyond…..See More
