Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that Ali Larijani, a prominent figure in Iran’s political establishment, has been killed in what he described as a targeted operation against key actors within the country’s power structure. The statement, shared via his Facebook page, has added to rising tensions and uncertainty surrounding developments in Iran.
In the post, Netanyahu said the operation was aimed at senior figures allegedly linked to Iran’s internal security and political machinery. He described Larijani as a central figure connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which he accused of playing a dominant role in shaping Iran’s internal affairs and broader regional activities.
According to Netanyahu, the operation also resulted in the killing of a commander affiliated with the Basij, which he characterized as an auxiliary unit tied to the Revolutionary Guards. He alleged that the group is involved in enforcing control within cities, including Tehran, and in suppressing civilian populations.
“This morning we eliminated Ali Larijani. Ali Larijani is the boss of the revolutionary guards, which is the gangsters that actually runs Iran. We eliminated alongside him the commander of the Basij — this is the aid of the gangsters, who spreads terror on the streets of Tehran and other cities of Iran against the population,” Netanyahu said.
He framed the action as a significant blow to structures he accused of driving repression and instability within Iran, suggesting that removing such figures could weaken internal enforcement mechanisms and broader influence networks.
The claim, however, has not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate official confirmation from Iranian authorities regarding Larijani’s status. Analysts note that such statements, particularly during periods of heightened geopolitical tension, should be approached with caution until corroborated by multiple sources…..See More
