Zoning Is Not In The Constitution, So Why Are We Now Doing Things On Geopolitical zones? Prof Udenta

Professor Udenta O. Udenta has stated that Nigeria’s zoning arrangement and the six geopolitical zones are not provided for in the country’s constitution.

Speaking in an interview on SYMFONI TV, on Thursday May 14 2926, Udenta noted that several political practices in Nigeria are not explicitly backed by constitutional provisions. He questioned the legal foundation of the geopolitical zones, asking whether they are officially recognized in the constitution. He urged a factual check on whether the six geopolitical zones are constitutional.

Udenta said many appointments into boards and commissions are driven by politics, not strict constitutional rules, adding that over-focus on the constitution can distort governance and slow national development.
