Wike: We cannot allow one individual citizen in Nigeria to control the whole country—FCT Workers

According to the report from SYMFONI TV, Workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Tuesday openly confronted the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, calling for his resignation over what they described as unacceptable conduct and statements against workers.

The protesting workers accused the minister of actions they say undermine democratic principles and workers’ rights, warning that such conduct should not be tolerated in the nation’s capital.

Speaking during the confrontation, the workers referenced the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, insisting that similar events must not be allowed to occur in Abuja.

“What happened in Rivers cannot happen in FCT,” one of the workers declared.

They further warned against what they described as excessive concentration of power in the hands of one individual, stressing that Nigeria must remain governed by law and collective responsibility.

“We cannot allow one individual citizen in Nigeria to control the whole country,” another speaker said.

“It is not possible,” the worker added, emphasizing that the FCT must not be subjected to authoritarian tendencies.

The workers also challenged comments allegedly made by the minister regarding their status, particularly claims that FCT workers were not properly registered.

“And let it be known to the world today that he said FCT workers are not registered,” a representative stated.

Rejecting that assertion, the workers affirmed their legitimacy and vowed to stand their ground in defense of their dignity and rights.

“We want to prove to him that yes, we are workers with dignity,” the speaker concluded.
