Where Were The Voices? -Bishop Kukah Slams Silence Over El-Rufai’s Muslim-Muslim Ticket In Kaduna

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah, has voiced his concerns regarding the controversial political decisions made by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai. Speaking during a recent interview on The PAP Show, the Bishop questioned the long silence from the community during El-Rufai’s tenure.

Kukah recalled how the former governor decided to move away from the traditional balance in the state by picking a Muslim deputy, effectively removing Christian representation at that level. He expressed sadness that many religious leaders and residents stayed quiet while these changes took place.

The Bishop also touched on the claim that Christians only make up 30% of Kaduna’s population, a statement El-Rufai used to justify his actions. For many Nigerians, this remains a sensitive topic that touches on the deep-seated need for fairness and inclusion in leadership.

In his own words, Kukah asked:

“When Nasir El-Rufai decided to remove a Christian and said he did not want a Christian to be his deputy, those Muslims who are in Kaduna, who said anything? Did anybody say anything?”

The Bishop’s comments have sparked fresh conversations online, with many Nigerians reflecting on how such political moves affect the peace and unity of the country…..See More
