According to a report by the Vanguard News on November 22, 2025, Adesuyi Joshua, one of the victims of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) attack by bandits in Eruku, has claimed that as they were pursuing the bandits, when they go to the station, they security officials Tear-Gassed them and allowed the bandits escape.

Adesuyi Joshua recounted that despite having a security operatives nearby, no action was taken during the attack. Things took a turn when they pursued the bandits; the police started shooting from their gate, making them think the bandits had returned.
A youth leader, Shola Peters, accused the security operatives of failing the community even though they were benefiting from residents of the community.
Adesuyi said, “We thought it was the bandits again. When we got to the station, they tear-gassed us and allowed the attackers to escape.”
