Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and former chairman of the national human rights commission has voiced his displeasure over the oversight displayed president Tinubu and FCT minister, Nyesom Wike.
According to a post shared on his official X account on Saturday August 1st, 2026 he pointed out that when the federal capital territory (FCT), turned fifty years old, the president and his minister never celebrated.
Nyesom Wike, according to the respected professor, was away in Rivers State exerting force to impress his principal. He maintained that the former governor was bent on controlling affairs in Rivers state over his primary assignment.
Chidi Odinkalu, a well known critic of the FCT minister, queried the priorities of the APC administration as he believed that the oversight was unforgivable.
“On 3 Feb 2026, Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital, turned 50. The president did not seem to notice. His minister for the city, Wike was outside Abuja, in Rivers State, touring local government councils in what was clearly a political show of force to his master to recognize that he was still in charge of Rivers politics.” He said..See_More
