When Boko Haram Men Talk To Their Moms On Phone They Start Crying, Break Down And Quit The Group—Brigadier General Sani Usman (rtd)

Brigadier General Sani Usman (rtd), has stated that Boko Haram terrorists are not invisible or unknown people. He said they are known individuals who have families, including parents, brothers, sisters, and in many cases, spouses

In an interview with Trust TV, General Usman said the military sometimes contacts the parents of these terrorists, especially their mothers, and asks them to speak to their children over the phone and try to talk them into surrendering. He said when these conversations happen, the terrorists often break down emotionally.

General Usman said many of them start crying after hearing from their parents and decide to leave the terrorist group. He added that this approach has helped in getting some insurgents to surrender

In General Usman’s words: “These people are not spirits, they are known. They have parents, they have brothers, they have sisters and in most instances they have spouses. In fact, it was to the credit of the military. If they know the parents, particularly the mothers, of any of the insurgents, they ask them to speak to their wards through phone calls.
