Lere Olayinka, a media aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has reacted sharply to the protest led by human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, over the detention of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The protest, which began early Monday morning near the Ministry of Women Affairs in Abuja, ended in chaos after security forces fired tear gas to disperse the crowd. Protesters, who had vowed to march to the Presidential Villa, fled the scene as the situation grew tense.
Reacting to the incident via his X account, Olayinka mocked Sowore on social media, questioning the absence of all the Igbo people he claimed to have mobilized for the protest. He sarcastically referred to Sowore as a “Cashtivist,” implying that the activist might have been paid to organize the protest.
