Emeka Umeagbalasi, founder of the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law, otherwise called Intersociety, has stated that he is not offended by the New York Times report that described him as a screwdriver trader in Onitsha.
New York Times, in a recent report, stated that the United States of America relied on information and reports from Umeagbalasi, a screwdriver trader, to launch air strikes in Nigeria
However in an interview with Signature TV, Umeagbalasi said he and Intersociety had nothing to do with the United States airstrike in Sokoto. He stated that it was mischievous for the New York Times to link him or Intersociety to an action that did not involve them.
In Umeagbalasi’s words: “Your mother and father can give you one name but as you grow you can have it multiplied up to four. So this time around New York Times has just added another name to it and we like it. Everybody has a beginning, so Emeka Umeagbalasi is a screwdriver trader.
