According to a report by Tribune on Sunday, November 23, 2025, former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, on Sunday alleged that the ongoing insecurity challenges in Nigeria are politically motivated, claiming that some elements of the international community are influencing the situation.
He made the remarks while speaking on the State of the Nation segment of Politics Today on Channels TV, highlighting his concerns over external interests allegedly impacting the country’s security.
Kalu, however, expressed confidence in the efforts of President Bola Tinubu to tackle the growing insecurity.
He described the President as fully committed and actively engaged in strategies to restore peace across the nation.
According to Kalu, Tinubu is personally involved in monitoring security developments and ensuring that practical measures are implemented to address the rising threats from banditry, kidnappings, and violent attacks.
The former governor emphasized that the administration is taking comprehensive steps to protect lives and property.
He noted that despite the complex challenges, the federal government is mobilizing resources, coordinating with security agencies, and deploying strategies aimed at curbing criminal activities in the most affected states.
Kalu sought to reassure Nigerians that the government is aware of the severity of the situation and is working tirelessly to stabilize the country.
While raising concerns about alleged political interference, Kalu also urged citizens to remain patient and supportive of the government’s initiatives.
He pointed out that public cooperation with security efforts is critical for achieving tangible results and that unity is essential in addressing both internal and external influences that exacerbate insecurity.
He said, “So we are doing everything possible. President Tinubu is having sleepless nights every day about Nigeria. And I can assure you that things will get better.
