Tinubu Didn’t Cause This Problem, He Inherited It,He Has No Hand in the Detention of Kanu–Iwuanyanwu

Elder statesman Dan Iwuanyanwu has said that President Bola Tinubu is not responsible for the detention of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). He made this known during an interview with Channels Television while reacting to the protests held across parts of the country calling for Kanu’s release.

Iwuanyanwu explained that the issue surrounding Kanu’s detention did not begin under Tinubu’s government but was a problem he inherited from his predecessors. He said the president played no role in Kanu’s arrest or continued detention, but expressed surprise that Tinubu has not yet made any move to secure his release.

He also stressed that his position is not based on ethnicity but on justice and patriotism. According to him, he would have taken the same stand if someone from another region, such as the Yoruba or Fulani, were in the same situation.
